WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel College softball team swept the Washington & Jefferson Presidents in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play on the road Wednesday. Thiel won the first game 6-1 before earning a 9-0 win in the second game in five innings.

The Presidents took an early 1-0 lead in the first game, but the Tomcats responded with six unanswered runs. Leah Woytek (Hillsville, Pa. /Mohawk) tied up the game 1-1 in the third inning when she doubled into left center field, allowing Madison Fullmer (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria) to score.

Thiel plated four runs in the fourth inning. Jessica Kelley (Sarver, Pa./Freeport) had the key hit in the inning, a 2-RBI double to right center that scored Miranda Reesman (Vandergrift, Pa./Leechburg) and Mary Kate Dougherty (Depew, N.Y/Mt. St. Mary Academy). Alana Callahan (Austintown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch) and A.J. Corradi (Youngstown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch) also chipped in with one RBI apiece in the fourth.

Kelley tacked on her third RBI of the contest in the seventh on a single to center field, which scored Vanessa Falce (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport).

Kelley and Fullmer each notched a pair of hits for the Tomcats in the first game. Kelley also tallied three RBIs and scored a run.
