GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel Tomcats swept a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader from the Bethany Bison Tuesday at Tomcat Park. Thiel won the first game 2-1 before shutting out Bethany 3-0 in the second game.
Tied up in the bottom of the seventh inning with one out in the first game, freshman outfielder
Leah Woytek (Hillsville, Pa. /Mohawk) ripped a triple into center field, which scored
Alana Callahan (Austintown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch) from first base and lifted the Tomcats to a 2-1 victory.

The Tomcats opened scoring in the third inning of first game on
A.J. Corradi (Youngstown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch)'s RBI-single to left field. Bethany tied up the game in the sixth on a sacrifice fly, which set the stage for Woytek's game-winning hit.
Woytek went 3-for-4 with one RBI in the first game while Callahan went 2-for-3 and scored the game-winning run.
The only scoring in second game came in the fifth inning when the Tomcats plated three runs.
Miranda Reesman (Vandergrift, Pa./Leechburg) drove in the first run of the game on a double to right field. Thiel's second run came on an error while the third run was compliments of
Alexa Fike (Export, Pa./Franklin Regional)'s single to left field.
Reesman went 3-for-3 in the second game.
Caitlyn Carney (Lake Milton, Ohio/Jackson Milton) and Fike both collected two hits.
Jessica Kelley (Sarver, Pa./Freeport) earned both wins for the Tomcats. In the first game, Kelley allowed one run on five hits with six strikeouts. The sophomore right-hander was arguably even better in the second game when she tossed a three-hit shutout with four strikeouts.
Thiel improved to 7-5 in PAC play with Tuesday's wins.
The Tomcats will return to action Saturday when they face the Westminster Titans on the road. The first game of the PAC doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
