ALFRED, N.Y. –
Edward Kargbo (Alexandria, Va./T.C. Williams) scored five goals Wednesday to lead the Thiel College men's lacrosse team to an 11-5 non-conference road win over the Alfred State Pioneers.
With the outcome still undecided Kargbo scored three straight goals over the last 16-plus minutes of the contest to seal the win for the Thiel Tomcats. Kargbo finished with a game-best six points (5G, 1A) and scored on half of his shots (10).
Also for the Tomcats,
Jared Saffer (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) notched three points (2G, 1A) while
Kyle Reib (Erie, Pa./McDowell) and
Shawndel Evans II (New Haven, Conn./Notre Dame) each scored a goal and added an assist.
Desmond Stuart (Roanoke, Va./Salem) and
Brennen O'Shea (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) picked up six and five groundballs, respectively.
Joe Johnson paced the Pioneers with two goals.
Charles Wistner (Buffalo, N.Y./Orchard Park) denied 17 shots to improve to 5-0 on the season. Ryan Amidon made 14 saves for the Pioneers.
The Tomcats (5-0) will return to action next Wednesday when they take on the Oberlin Yeomen on the road. The non-conference game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
