FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Thiel College baseball team lost 15-5 to the Dominican University Stars in the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Fort Myers, Florida Tuesday morning.
Thiel opened the scoring in the third with RBI's by
Nick Grice (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport) and
Nick Fowkes (New Eagle, Pa./Ringgold) to put them ahead 2-0.
The Stars would answer in the fourth with a two RBI double by Mike Piotrowski and would score four more runs in the inning to give the Stars a 7-2 lead after four.
The Tomcats would only put up three more runs in the game, one of which would come from
Zach Hudecek (Gibsonia, Pa./Deer Lakes) on a solo-homerun, his second of the season.
Daniel Supple picked up his first win of the year for the Stars going six innings allowing only three runs and striking out three.
Joe Kukla and Colin Janison each recorded three RBI's in the 15 run performance for the Stars.
The Tomcats (2-2) return to action in the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. as they take on the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Terry Park.
