GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel Tomcats lost a three-set match Saturday afternoon to Stevenson University.
The Mustangs swept the first three sets of the Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) match 25-19, 25-20, 25-20.
Zach Rombach (Severn, Md./Archbishop Spalding) led the Tomcats with a match-high 14 digs and 26 assists while
Mitchell Patterson (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) and
Jacob DeRue (Penfield, N.Y./Fairport) had nine kills apiece.
The Mustangs improved to 4-2 in the CVC with the win. Landon Shorts led Stevenson with a match-high 18 kills and four blocks. Also, Kyle Johnson had a match-high 35 assists while Michael Young tallied 35 assists while Nicholas Gross tallied nine digs. The loss dropped the Tomcats to 4-9, 2-5 in the CVC.
The Tomcats will return to action Tuesday when they host the Hilbert College Hawks at Beeghly Gymnasium. The non-conference match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
