HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Thiel Tomcats lost a four-set match Tuesday night to Juniata College.
Thiel won the first set of the Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) match 25-23, but went on to drop the last three sets by scores of 25-17, 25-17, 25-21.
Mitchell Patterson (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) led the Tomcats with 16 kills while
Regan Hess (Burlington, Wis./Wetosha Central) and
Nate Roche (Cochranton, Pa./Cochranton) accounted for nine and seven kills respectively.
Zach Rombach (Severn, Md./Archbishop Spalding) had match highs with 36 assists and with 12 digs.
Ranked 13
th in Division III according to the most recent American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, the Eagles improved to 5-0 in the CVC with the win. Kyle Seeley led Juniata with 15 kills and five blocks. Also, Mahlon Bender had eight blocks while Michael Young tallied 35 assists.
The Tomcats will return to action Wednesday when they host the Penn State Behrend Lions at Beeghly Gymnasium. The non-conference match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
