GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Thiel Tomcats defeated the Grove City Wolverines in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play Wednesday on the road, 65-60.
A close game from start to finish, the Wolverines held a one-point lead at halftime (26-25). The Tomcats took their first lead in the second half (47-45) with 8:45 remaining in regulation when freshman guard
Terrance Holloway (Farrell, Pa./Farrell) drained a three-pointer on a pass from
Clandell Cetoute (Wellington, Fla./Wellington). The Tomcats refused to give up the lead the rest of the way en route to their 14
th win of the season.
A freshman guard, Holloway came off the bench to lead the Tomcats with 12 points. He also contributed four rebounds and three steals. Cetoute notched his fifth double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds. He also added to his conference-leading block total with five swats.
Also for the Tomcats,
Avril Campbell (Dumfries, Va./Potomac) was one rebound away from a double-double with 10 points and nine boards. Guards
Nyric Gosley (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) and
Mert Ozkaynak (Izmir, Turkey/T.C. Williams) also chipped in with nine points apiece.
The Tomcats edged the Wolverines in bench points (21-8) and points off turnovers (17-4).
Brandon Grider paced Grove City with 18 points while Cory Huff notched a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Andrew Beckman also helped the Wolverines with 10 points and nine rebounds.
The Tomcats (14-8, 10-7 PAC) will conclude the 2016-17 regular season Saturday when they host the Chatham Cougars at Beeghly Gymnasium. The PAC game is set to begin at 3 p.m.
