Tomcats host Cougars on Senior Night

GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's volleyball team hosted Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opponent Chatham University on Thursday night in Beeghly Gymnasium. The Cougars outlasted the Tomcats taking the match 3-1.
 
The Tomcats got off to a slow start in the first falling behind 9-3 in the early going. Thiel would eventually drop the set 25-14.
 
Thiel and Chatham would trade the lead back and forth in the second set as Thiel had a commanding lead of 20-15 late in the set before the Cougars went on an 8-1 run to take a 23-21 advantage. The Tomcats tied the set at 24-24 on an ace from Shelby Friedel (Columbia Station, Ohio/Columbia) and won three of the next four points to take the set 27-25.
 
The Cougars rebounded in the third convincingly taking the set 25-15, building their lead 2 sets to 1.
 
A hard fought fourth set with 10 lead changes was not enough for the Tomcats as the Cougars were able to take the set and the match with a 25-23 set victory.
 
Chatham was led by Justyne Lasher with a game-high 20 kills and Belen Brown with a game-high 37 digs.
 
As for the Tomcats Peyton Allen (Mineral Ridge, Ohio/Mineral Ridge) and Kasey Kohler (New Springfield, Ohio/Springfield Local) each collected double-digit kills on the night with 11 and 10, respectively. Hannah Rossman (Fairview, Pa./Fairview) dished out a game-high 33 assists on the night.
 
The Tomcats will face PAC opponent Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, Pa. for two matches on Saturday, first match begins at 11 a.m. Thiel will then conclude the regular season on Sunday at Beeghly Gymnasium as Thomas More College travels to Greenville, the match is set to begin at 12 p.m.
