GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's soccer team were defeated by Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opponent Westminster College 4-1 on Wednesday night at Alumni Stadium.
The Titans struck early on a corner kick in the seventh minute as the Tomcats misplayed a ball allowing Jon Clark's shot to bounce in to make it 1-0 in favor of Westminster.
The Tomcats answered quickly as
Zachary Oliver (Bridgeport, Ohio/St. Clairsville) drove the ball deep in Titan territory and crossed a ball inside the box for Andreas Hauge Jonassen to bury in the back of the net to make it tied 1-1.
Westminster responded with another score on a set piece as Grant Gagnon served a ball that Peter Mattocks headed in at the 18' mark. Mattocks scored again on a rebounded shot to make it 3-1 in the 27'.
The Titans would add one final goal in the 51st minute when Justin Brandt scored on another rebounded shot.
With the loss, the Tomcats fall to 4-6-1 and 1-1-1 in the PAC. Thiel will be back in action on Saturday as the travel to face Waynesburg University; kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
