WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball team rolled to a 101-64 victory over the Washington & Jefferson Presidents in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest Thursday night.
Six Tomcats scored double figures in the win, including four of the five starters.
Tyreik Burton (Lewes, Del./Cape Henlopen) led the Tomcats with a game-high 18 points and nine assists. Burton also pulled down five rebounds and stole the ball twice.
Josh Lumbus (Cleveland, Ohio/John Hay) scored 12 points while picking up a game-high four steals.
Nyric Gosley (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) and
Avril Campbell (Dumfries, Va./Potomac) both chipped in with ten points and three rebounds.
Off the bench,
Alonzo Brown (Largo, Fla./Pinellas Park) notched 13 points, six rebounds and three assists and
Terrance Holloway (Farrell, Pa./Farrell) tallied 11 points and five rebounds.
Cletus Helton (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton-La Salle) recorded nine points and four assists.
The Tomcats shot a season-high 65.6 percent (40-61) from the field and 58.3 percent (7-12) from beyond the three-point line. The Presidents went 40 percent (25-55) shooting for the game.
The Tomcats (7-3, 3-2 PAC) will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to West Virginia to take on the Bethany Bison in a PAC matchup. The game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. tip-off.
