GREENVILLE, Pa. –
Tyreik Burton (Lewes, Del./Cape Henlopen) scored 30 points Wednesday to lead the Thiel College men's basketball team to an 83-68 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) win over the Grove City Wolverines at Beeghly Gymnasium.
The Tomcats never trailed in the game and led by as many as 23 points in the second half. The victory also ended the Tomcats' three-game losing streak.
Burton made 11-of-15 shots from the floor, including a 3-of-4 effort from three-point range. Burton, who made 5-of-6 from the line, also handed out four assists and tallied a pair of steals.
Also for the Tomcats,
Mert Ozkaynak (Izmir, Turkey/T.C. Williams) scored 12 points while
Clandell Cetoute (Wellington, Fla./Wellington) and
Alonzo Brown (Largo, Fla./Pinellas Park) each netted 11 points. Cetoute also notched six blocks.
Cory Huff recorded a double-double for the Wolverines with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Andrew Beckman also scored 15 points for Grove City.
Thiel (8-6, 4-5 PAC) will host the Westminster Titans Saturday. The PAC game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
