ERIE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's volleyball team was unable to sustain the early momentum as they dropped a four-set match (26-24, 19-25, 19-25, 18-25) to the Penn State Behrend Lions in non-conference action Thursday night.
Peyton Allen (Mineral Ridge, Ohio/Mineral Ridge),
Macy Jordan (York, Pa./York Suburban) and
Lenora Boyer (Delaware, Ohio/Delaware Christian) each notched double-digit kills for the Tomcats. Allen led the Tomcats with 12 kills and 24 digs in the game to pick up her fourth consecutive game with a kill-dig double-double and her seventh double-double of the season. Jordan had 11 kills to set a new career-high while Boyer added 10 kills.
Shelby Friedel (Columbia Station, Ohio/Columbia) and
Jessica Monroe (Massillon, Ohio/Massillon Washington) each blocked three Lion attacks.
Jenny Shelley (Port Allegany, Pa./Port Allegany) totaled 34 assists and nine digs.
Megan Sweeny (Freeport, Pa./Freeport Area) dug out 21 attacks in the loss.
Amanda Henry, who had 15 kills and 14 digs, led the Lions in the win.
The Tomcats (6-9) will resume their conference schedule when they host the Thomas More Saints on Sunday, Sept. 25 at 1 p.m.
