GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Thiel College women's volleyball team suffered a hard-fought four set (20-25, 20-25, 25-19, 18-25) loss to the Grove City Wolverines in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup Tuesday evening.
Jenny Shelley (Port Allegany, Pa./Port Allegany) and
Peyton Allen (Mineral Ridge, Ohio/Mineral Ridge) notched double-doubles for the Tomcats. Shelley dished out a match-high 26 assists and added 16 digs for her fifth double-double of the season. Allen also picked up her fifth double-double of the season with 15 kills along with 21 digs.
Jessica Monroe (Massillon, Ohio/Massillon Washington) had eight kills while
Shelby Friedel (Columbia Station, Ohio/Columbia) and
Lenora Boyer (Delaware, Ohio/Delaware Christian) secured seven and six kills respectively.
Megan Sweeny (Freeport, Pa./Freeport Area) dug out a team-high 23 Wolverine attacks while
Hayley Macko (Canal Fulton, Ohio/Northwest) tallied 10 digs.
Emma Hartshorn had 12 kills and 24 digs for the Wolverines.
The Tomcats (6-8, 1-4 PAC) will step out of conference action to travel to Erie, Pa. to take on the Penn State-Behrend Lions. The match is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m.
