BETHANY, W.Va. – The Thiel College women's volleyball team dropped a pair of Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matches to the Geneva Golden Tornadoes and the Bethany Bison in a tri-match Tuesday night.
Geneva took down Thiel in three sets (12-25, 18-25, 19-25).
Shelby Friedel (Columbia Station, Ohio/Columbia) led the Tomcats with eight kills and three blocks.
Jessica Monroe (Massillon, Ohio/Massillon Washington) notched seven kills while
Macy Jordan (York, Pa./York Suburban) had five kills and two blocks.
Jenny Shelley (Port Allegany, Pa./Port Allegany) and
Hannah Rossman (Fairview, Pa./Fairview) dished out 10 assists apiece.
Megan Sweeny (Freeport, Pa./Freeport Area) dug out 21 Geneva attacks and added three kills.
Sydney McNulty had a game-high 11 kills for Geneva.
Thiel then battled Bethany in the finale of the tri-match but dropped the match in three sets (15-25, 22-25, 22-25).
Monroe led Thiel against Bethany with nine kills. Friedel and
Lenora Boyer (Delaware, Ohio/Delaware Christian) each collected eight kills. Boyer added seven digs in the loss. Shelley handed out 14 assists while
Brenna Parsley (Canal Winchester, Ohio/Madison Christian) had 12 assists.
Sweeny led the Thiel back row with 12 digs and
Peyton Allen (Mineral Ridge, Ohio/Mineral Ridge) had eight digs.
Alexis Castro notched double-digit kills for Bethany.
The Tomcats (5-6, 0-2 PAC) will host the Washington & Jefferson Presidents and the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets in a PAC tri-match on Saturday, Sept. 17. The first match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. from Beeghly Gymnasium.
