GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College softball team suffered a pair of Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) losses Saturday to the Westminster Titans at Tomcat Park. Thiel lost the first game of the doubleheader 6-2 before losing 4-1 in the second game.
Caitlyn Carney (Lake Milton, Ohio/Jackson Milton) staked the Tomcats to 1-0 lead in the first inning of the first game when she drove in
Alana Callahan (Austintown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch) with a single down the left field line. The Titans went on to take the lead with a two-run second inning before extending their lead to 5-1 in the fifth inning.
The Tomcats scored their final run in the first game in the bottom of the fifth inning on Callahan's RBI-single to center field.
Carney went 3-for-3 in Game 1 while Callahan recorded two hits, one of which was a double.
Shyanne Sanders (Herminie, Pa./Yough) also doubled for the Tomcats. Kailey Liverman and Alexis Sheffer led Westminster with three hits apiece.
Jazmyn Rohrer earned the win in the first game. She allowed two earned runs on six hits with four strikeouts. Thiel's
Isabella Bungo (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel), who threw two innings in relief of
Allison Williams (Corry, Pa./Corry), allowed one run on two hits.
Westminster built up a 3-0 lead after two innings in the second game. Thiel cut into the lead in the sixth on a sacrifice fly to center field by
Madison Fullmer (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria), which scored Callahan. However, Westminster scored its fourth run in the seventh inning and held on for the conference win.
Sanders went 2-for-3 in the second game with a double.
Amber Forrest earned the win in the second game. She allowed one earned run on five hits in seven innings.
Brianna Flynn (Clark, Pa./Sharpsville), who took the loss, allowed three runs on nine hits in 5 1/3 innings. Bungo threw the final 1 2/3 innings allowing one run on three hits with a strikeout.

Amanda Auxier (Parma Heights, Ohio/Valley Forge),
Cara Baker (Corry, Pa./Corry), Flynn, Sanders and Williams were honored after the doubleheader during senior day.
The Tomcats are scheduled to host the Chatham Cougars Tuesday at Tomcat Park. The first game of the PAC doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
