HANOVER, Ind. – The Thiel College men's lacrosse team lost an Ohio River Lacrosse Conference (ORLC) contest on the road Saturday to the Hanover Panthers, 10-9.
After leading early in the contest, the Tomcats trailed the Panthers 9-6 heading into the fourth quarter. In the fourth, Thiel's
Edward Kargbo (Alexandria, Va./T.C. Williams) scored a goal and
Brennen O'Shea (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seneca Valley) scored a pair of goals, including the equalizer, but Bret Schell went on to score the game-winner for the Panthers with 6:37 remaining in regulation.
O'Shea led the Tomcats with three goals on the day while Kargbo scored two goals. Also for Thiel,
Jared Saffer (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) and
Murphy Wood (Austin, Texas/LC Anderson) picked up five ground balls apiece.
Schell scored four goals for the Panthers, including the game-winner. Joe Deleo and Chad Szczublewski chipped in with two goals apiece.
Charles Wistner (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) made 10 saves for the Tomcats while Jake Glass denied five shots for the Panthers.
The Tomcats (10-3, 5-2 ORLC) will host the Franciscan Barons on Saturday. The non-conference game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.
