CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The Thiel College softball team split a pair of Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) games Saturday against the Thomas More Saints. The Tomcats lost the first game 9-5 but rebounded to earn a key 5-1 win in the second game.
 
Pitcher 
Brianna Flynn (Clark, Pa./Sharpsville) led the Tomcats in the second game. The senior right-hander refused to allow an earned run while limiting the Saints to five hits. Flynn struck out three batters and issued one walk. Flynn also benefited from 11 Thiel hits that led to five runs, three of which were earned.
 
After falling behind 1-0, 
Alana Callahan (Austintown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch) tied up the game for Thiel with an RBI-single to right field in the second inning. The game remained tied until the Tomcats picked up a pair of runs in the sixth. 
Shyanne Sanders (Herminie, Pa./Yough) scored what turned out to be the game-winning run on a throwing error by the Saints. 
Alexa Fike (Export, Pa./Franklin Regional) followed with an RBI-single down the left field line, which scored 
Cara Baker (Corry, Pa./Corry).
 
Caitlyn Carney (Lake Milton, Ohio/Jackson Milton) gave the Tomcats a pair of insurance runs in the seventh when she belted a 2-RBI single to right field. Fike and 
Madison Fullmer (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria) each went 2-for-3 for the Tomcats in the second game.
 
Trailing 9-2 after four innings in the first game, the Tomcats scored three runs over the final two frames but fell short in their comeback bid. 
Amanda Auxier (Parma Heights, Ohio/Valley Forge) knocked in Thiel's third run of the game on a sacrifice fly to center field in the sixth. The Tomcats scored two runs in the seventh, one of which was one 
Miranda Reesman (Leechburg, Pa./Leechburg)'s RBI-single up the middle.
 
A.J. Corradi (Youngstown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch) led the Tomcats in the first game with a 3-for-3 performance at the plate. Carney, Callahan and Baker each recorded two hits.
 
Allison Williams (Corry, Pa./Corry) took the loss. She allowed six earned runs on 10 hits. Mamee Salzer improved to 11-3 on the season with the win. She gave up two earned runs on 10 hits.
 
The Tomcats will host the Grove City Wolverines Monday at Tomcat Park. The first game of the PAC doubleheader is slated to begin at 3:30 p.m.
