Tomcats come back to defeat Battling Bishops, 6-4

CLERMONT, Fla. – Trailing the Ohio Wesleyan Battling Bishops 3-1, the Thiel College Tomcats erupted for five runs in the sixth inning en route to a 6-4 comeback victory during play in the Spring Games at Hancock Park in Clermont, Fla.

A.J. Corradi (Youngstown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch) brought in Thiel's first run in the sixth on a double to left field. Miranda Reesman (Leechburg, Pa./Leechburg) followed with an RBI-single up the middle to tie up the game, 3-3. Cara Baker (Corry, Pa./Corry) brought in the go-ahead run on another single up the middle. Jessica Kelley (Sarver, Pa./Freeport) also tallied a key hit up the middle, a two-out single that pushed two insurance runs across the plate.

The Bishops picked up one run in the seventh inning, but Allison Williams (Corry, Pa./Corry) held on for her second win of the season. Williams threw two innings in relief of Brianna Flynn (Clark, Pa./Sharpsville). Williams allowed one run on two hits.

Flynn tossed a perfect game through three innings before allowing her first hit in the fourth frame. Flynn allowed three runs, all in the fourth inning, two of which were earned, while recording four strikeouts.

Kelley staked the Tomcats to an early 1-0 when she led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run over the left field fence. She went 2-for-4 overall with three RBIs and a run scored. Corradi also collected two hits to go along with an RBI and a run scored.
