NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball team opened the Buzz Ridl Classic in a great way by picking up a 91-78 victory over the Penn State Beaver Lions on Friday.
 
The Tomcats were fueled by twenty-plus point performances by freshman 
Nyric Gosley (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) and sophomore 
Alonzo Brown (Largo, Fla./Pinellas Park). Gosley led all scorers with 24 points on 8-of-9 shooting and 7-of-11 from the charity stripe. Gosley added five assists, four rebounds and three steals in the win. Brown notched 23 points on 10-of-15 in field goals while grabbing seven boards and dishing out six assists. Gosley and Brown knocked down their only three-point attempt of the game.
 
Four other Tomcats tallied double-figures including juniors 
Clandell Cetoute (Wellington, Fla./Wellington), 
Avril Campbell (Dumfries, Va./Potomac) and 
Mert Ozkaynak (Izmir, Turkey/T.C. Williams) and freshman 
Terrance Holloway (Farrell, Pa./Farrell). Cetoute and Campbell both scored 11 points and pulled down seven rebounds for the Tomcats while Ozkaynak and Holloway dropped 10 points and secured four rebounds. Ozkaynak added a game-high seven assists in the victory.
 
Igancio Alleyne had a double-double for the Lions with 15 points and 13 rebounds.
 
The Tomcats shot 61.7% (37-60) from the field and scored 68 of their 91 points from the paint.
 
The Tomcats (2-0) will wrap up the Buzz Ridl Classic tomorrow when they take on the Pitt-Greensburg Bobcats. The game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. from Westminster College.
