WAYNESBURG, Pa. – The Thiel College women's volleyball team picked up a pair of 3-0 sweeps over the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets and the Pitt-Greensburg Bobcats in a tri-match on Saturday.
The Tomcats cruised to the three-set win over the Yellow Jackets, 25-21, 25-13, 25-23, in the opening match of the tri-match.
Lenora Boyer (Delaware, Ohio/Delaware Christian) and
Peyton Allen (Mineral Ridge, Ohio/Mineral Ridge) both tallied 10 kills in the win. Allen added seven digs while Boyer dropped in four service aces.
In the middle,
Jessica Monroe (Massillon, Ohio/Massillon Washington) recorded nine kills and
Shelby Friedel (Columbia Station, Ohio/Columbia) blocked four Yellow Jacket attacks.
Jenny Shelley (Port Allegany, Pa./Port Allegany) dished out 34 assists for the Tomcats while digging out seven attacks.
Hayley Macko (Canal Fulton, Ohio/Northwest) had a team-high eight digs in the back row.
Megan Sweeny (Freeport, Pa./Freeport Area) collected seven digs with four service aces.
Morgan Reisz (Canonsburg, Pa./Bishop Canevin) put in three service aces on the Yellow Jackets.
The Tomcats kept the momentum from the first game, recording the three-set sweep over the Bobcats, 25-20, 25-19, 25-17.
Allen matched her totals from game one notching 10 kills and seven digs for the Tomcats. Friedel also secured 10 kills in the win.
Macy Jordan (York, Pa./York Suburban) had nine kills while Monroe killed eight attacks and added two blocks.
Shelley was a dig away from a double-double, handing out 34 assists and digging out nine Bobcat attacks.
The Tomcats (12-16, 5-10 PAC) will return home on Tuesday when they host the Bethany Bison in conference match. The action from Beeghly Gymnasium is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
