Game Recap: Women's Volleyball | | Cyrill Parham

Titans fall to Tomcats in four sets

GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's volleyball team picked up a four-set (25-17, 25-22, 21-25, 25-19) victory over the Westminster Titans in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest Thursday night at Beeghly Gymnasium.
 
Three Tomcats notched double-doubles in the win. Lenora Boyer (Delaware, Ohio/Delaware Christian) and Peyton Allen (Mineral Ridge, Ohio/Mineral Ridge) both recorded kill-dig double-doubles. Allen led the way with a team-high 16 kills and 22 digs in the victory while Boyer tallied 12 kills and 12 digs for the Tomcats. Jenny Shelley (Port Allegany, Pa./Port Allegany) dished out a career-high 49 assists along with 17 digs. Shelley also dropped in two service aces on the Titans.
 
Shelby Friedel (Columbia Station, Ohio/Columbia) and Macy Jordan (York, Pa./York Suburban) each registered double-digit kills for the Tomcats. Jordan had 10 kills on 27 swings while Friedel had 11 kills on 31 swings. Friedel added four blocks in the middle. Jessica Monroe (Massillon, Ohio/Massillon Washington) logged seven kills for the Tomcats.
 
Megan Sweeny (Freeport, Pa./Freeport Area), Hayley Macko (Canal Fulton, Ohio/Northwest) and Morgan Reisz (Canonsburg, Pa./Bishop Canevin) all played well in the Tomcat back row. Sweeny dug out 16 Titan attacks while Macko tallied 15 digs. Reisz had eight digs along with two service aces.
 
As a team, the Tomcats hit for a .167 clip with every Tomcat hitting positive.
 
Reilly DeGeorge had 11 kills and 14 digs for the Titans in the loss.
 
The Tomcats (9-13, 3-8 PAC) will head to Washington, Pa. on Saturday to face the W&J Presidents and the Oberlin Yeowomen in a tri-match. Action is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
