PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball team picked up a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory in overtime 90-84 against the Chatham Cougars on the road Wednesday night.
Khari Bess (Waldorf, Md./Maurice J. McDonough) and
Avril Campbell (Dumfries, Va./Potomac) both recorded double-doubles in the win. It was Bess' second double-double in two games while it was Campbell's first collegiate double-double. Bess had 25 points on 11-of-17 shooting from the field with 10 rebounds, six assists, five steals and two blocks. Campbell scored 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting with a career-high 15 rebounds and three assists.
Luke Kochka (Monroeville, Pa. /Gateway) recorded 25 points and seven rebounds.
Clandell Cetoute (Wellington, Fla./Wellington) pulled down a career-high 16 rebounds, 10 of which were offensive, and scored nine points with three blocks.
Leandra Jackson (Boardman, Ohio) scored 12 points and stole the ball three times off the bench.
As a team, the Tomcats shot 52.1% from the field. The Tomcats outrebounded the Cougars 56-34 and the Tomcats scored more second chance points (22-12), bench points (18-12), and points in the paint (13-2).
With 13 seconds left in regulation, the Tomcats tied the game at 75 when Campbell knocked down a jumper after rebounding a Bess miss. The Tomcats outscored the Cougars 15-9 in the overtime period.
The Tomcats will be back in action Sat., Jan. 9 at 3:30 p.m. when they take on the Westminster Titans in a PAC contest.
