Dominic Walker (Kent, Ohio/Field) scored three goals, all in the second half, to the lead the Thiel Tomcats to a 7-1 win over the Hilbert Hawks Tuesday night at Alumni Stadium.
Jordan Lilley (Jamestown, Ohio/Greeneview) put the Tomcats up early when he picked the top right corner on a penalty kick. The Tomcats extended their lead to 2-0 with less than two minutes remaining before halftime when
Zackary Hershberger (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) scored on a bicycle kick from close range after receiving a throw in from Lilley.
Walker netted two goals less than 10 minutes into the second half to double Thiel's lead. His first goal came on a sharp-angle kick from the right wing. His second marker was on a rebound from the left side of the cage, which
Jon Fennick (New Castle, Pa./Neshannock ) earned an assist on.
Fennick went on to score his own goal down the stretch, and Walker tallied his hat trick goal at the 65:59 mark on a pass from Lilley.
Zachary Oliver (Bridgeport, Ohio/St. Clairsville) closed out scoring with 4:32 remaining off a pass from
Cole Duskey (Orrville, Ohio/Orrville).
Ryan Schupp scored Hilbert's lone goal on the night. Ryan Valentine and Nick Margerum each made a save for the Hawks.
Trey Roller (Girard, Ohio/Ursuline), who played all 90 minutes for the Tomcats, made two saves and earned his first collegiate win.
The Tomcats will host the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Panthers Wednesday at Alumni Stadium. The game is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
