CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Thiel College women's volleyball team was upended by the Hiram Terriers (14-25, 12-25, 14-25) and the Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets (22-25, 15-25, 15-25) on the final day of the Marcia French Invitational Saturday.
Freshman middle hitter Shelby Friedel (Columbia Station, Ohio/Columbia) was named to the All-Tournament team after totaling 18 kills, three solo blocks and three block assists during the tournament.
Friedel led the Tomcat attack against Hiram with five kills. Lenora Boyer (Delaware, Ohio/Delaware Christian) and Bailey Holmes (Roaming Shores, Ohio/Grand Valley) each recorded two blocks. Ashley Baer (Cambridge Springs, Pa./Cambridge Springs) had 13 digs defensively.
Peyton Allen (Mineral Ridge, Ohio/Mineral Ridge) and Hannah Budzowski (New Castle, Pa./Shenango) had six kills respectively against Baldwin Wallace while Allen added two aces. Hannah Rossman (Fairview, Pa./Fairview) dished out 17 assists in the loss.
The Tomcats return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. on the road against the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest.
