GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College baseball team earned a 2-1 victory in 11 innings in walk-off fashion against the Westminster Titans in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game Monday afternoon at Tomcat Park.
Cody Trinch (Franklin, Pa./Franklin) was the hero of the game, coming through with a RBI single with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 11
th that scored
Dan Koller (Euclid, Ohio/Lake Catholic) from third. The single was Trinch's lone hit of the game.
Koller went 2-for-3 on the day, including a double that set-up the game winning play and reached base two more times via the hit by pitch.
Josh Doody (Grove City, Pa. /Grove City) and
Trent Smith (Franklin, Pa./Franklin) also recorded two hit respectively in the win while Smith had a RBI in the 1
st inning that scored Doody.
The win went to
Kevin Forrester (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan), who earned his second win of the season, pitching two innings in relief of starter
Matt Elko (Middlefield, Ohio/Berkshire). Elko pitched nine innings, striking out eight and only allowed one unearned run.
The Tomcats (17-7, 7-5 PAC) will be back in action Tuesday, April 7 at 3 p.m. to take on La Roche Redhawks in a non-conference game at Tomcat Park.
