WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel Tomcats lost a pair of Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) games on the road Saturday to the Washington & Jefferson Presidents. Thiel lost 9-1 in the first game of the doubleheader and 1-0 in the second game.
Madison Cheek (Milan, Ohio/Milan-Edison) paced the Tomcats at the plate in the first game with a 2-for-2 performance that included an RBI-double to left center field in the fourth inning.
The Presidents put the first and only run on the scoreboard in the sixth inning of the second game and held on for the 1-0 win.
Amanda Callahan (Austintown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch) suffered the loss in Game 2. She allowed one run, which wasn't earned, on four hits. She struck out two batters and issued three walks.
A.J. Corradi (Youngstown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch) and
Danielle Massengill (North Bend, Wash./Mt. Si) each registered one hit for the Tomcats in the second game.
Thiel (12-14, 5-9 PAC) will host the Case Western Reserve Spartans at Tomcat Park Sunday. The first game of the non-conference doubleheader is slated for 1 p.m.
