GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel Tomcats suffered a pair of Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) losses Friday to the Saint Vincent Bearcats at Tomcat Park. Thiel lost 6-0 in the first game of the doubleheader and 5-2 in the second game.
Saint Vincent scored a run in the third inning on a double by Shelby Noel. It remained a 1-0 game until the top of the seventh inning when the Bearcats struck for five runs.
Brianna Flynn (Clark, Pa./Sharpsville) suffered the loss in Game 1. She struck out six batters in 6 1/3 innings of work. Samantha Emert earned the win. She allowed just two hits and threw a complete game shutout with five strikeouts.
In Game 2, the Bearcats scored a pair of runs in the first inning and added another run in the fifth before scoring two more runs in the top of the seventh to take a 5-0 lead.
The Tomcats scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh on RBIs by
Alexa Fike (Export, Pa./Franklin Regional) and
A.J. Corradi (Youngstown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch).
Alana Callahan (Austintown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch) led the Tomcats in the second game with a 3-for-3 performance at the plate and a run scored. Breanna Wallace also had three hits for Saint Vincent.
Emily Duerr earned the win for the Bearcats in the second game. She allowed two earned runs on eight hits with four strikeouts.
Allison Williams (Corry, Pa./Corry) took the loss. She allowed three earned runs on 12 hits with a pair of strikeouts.
The Tomcats (10-10, 3-5 PAC) will host the Bethany Bison Saturday at Tomcat Park. The first game of the PAC doubleheader is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
