LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's volleyball team marched to a three set (25-21, 25-22, 25-17) victory over the Cairn University Highlanders in a Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) contest Friday night.
Alex Ciepiela (Marilla, N.Y./Iroquios Central) recorded his first career double-double in the victory. Ciepiela had 10 kills and 10 digs.
Michael Whitelock (Pittsburgh, Pa./Schenley) had nine kills on 16 attempts, combined for seven total blocks (three solo, four assisted), and put down two service aces.
Dylan Lasher (Ford City, Pa./Elderton) killed eight attacks and had eight digs.
Defensively,
Colin Vitale (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) had a game-high 15 digs for the Tomcats.
Charlie Tindall (Tarentum, Pa./Deer Lakes) and
Zach Rombach (Severn, Md./Archbishop Spalding) each had 16 and 14 assists respectively.
For the Highlanders, Ryan Garven had a game-high 11 kills.
The Tomcats (11-11, 4-6 CVC) go back to .500 overall on the season and look to improve their playoff hopes on Saturday, March 28 as they take on the Rutgers-Newark Scarlet Raiders. Action is slated to start at 2 p.m.
