Tomcats split doubleheader with Titans

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel College baseball split a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader against the Titans of Westminster College Tuesday.
 
Trent Mosley (South Euclid, Ohio/Brush) hit his third home run of the season in a 7-5 loss in the first game. Mosley's solo shot over the center field fence came in the second inning. Bryan Mitchell (Cleveland, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) and Brian Genco (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville) each had two hits in the game.
 
Parker Meyers (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) took the loss in the first game, after surrendering six earned runs in three innings of the work, Meyers did strike out four Titans.
 
The Tomcats scored in every inning except the seventh in a 10-8 victory in the second game of the doubleheader.
 
Trent Smith (Franklin, Pa./Franklin) was a home run away from hitting the cycle, going 4-for-5 with a double, triple, and three RBIs. Mitchell had three hits, two RBI and two runs scored. Along with Mitchell, Cody Trinch (Franklin, Pa./Franklin) and Matt Elko (Middlefield, Ohio/Berkshire) also crossed the plate twice.
 
Elko, Mosley and Dan Koller (Euclid, Ohio/Lake Catholic) also recorded two hit performances.
 
The win in the second game went to Jaden Nozicka (Portage, Mich./Portage Central), who improved to 3-1 on the year. Kevin Forrester (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) picked up his second save in two innings of work.
 
The Tomcats (11-3, 1-2 PAC) will be back in action Wednesday, March 25 at 2 p.m. to take on the Mount Union Purple Raiders.
