WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel College baseball team fell to the Washington & Jefferson Presidents 4-3 in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest Monday afternoon.
W&J had the early advantage until
Dan Koller (Euclid, Ohio/Lake Catholic) tied it up at one in the third inning with a RBI double down the left-field line that scored
Bryan Mitchell (Cleveland, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) all the way from first.
Then in the bottom of the fourth, W&J scored three runs in the inning to take the lead back 4-1.
Trent Mosley (South Euclid, Ohio/Brush) brought two of those runs back in the top of the sixth with his second home run of the season that sailed over the left field fence.
W&J held on in the final innings to earned their first win in conference play.
Matt Elko (Middlefield, Ohio/Berkshire) pitched seven innings, striking out three and giving up three earned runs. Keven Forrester pitched an inning of one-hit ball with a strikeout.
Koller,
Cody Trinch (Franklin, Pa./Franklin) and
Brian Genco (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville) each had two-hits respectively for the Tomcats.
The Tomcats (10-2, 0-1 PAC) will be back in action Tuesday, March 24 to face the Westminster Titans in a PAC doubleheader. The first game is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
