Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. – The Thiel Tomcats finished play in the Spring Games Friday with a 6-4 record, besting last year's 4-4 mark. Thiel lost its first game Friday to Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) 5-2, but defeated Lakeland College 7-3 in its second game at the National Training Center in Clermont, Fla.
WPI took an early 4-0 lead over Thiel. The Tomcats eked out a run in the third and fifth innings, but would get no closer to the Engineers. In the third,

Allison Williams (Corry, Pa./Corry) threw six strong innings of relief, allowing just one run on five hits.
The Tomcats scattered 12 hits against the Lakeland Muskies, en route to a 7-3 victory.
Madison Cheek (Milan, Ohio/Milan-Edison) led the way with three hits and two RBIs.
Brianna Flynn (Clark, Pa./Sharpsville) earned the win against Lakeland, improving her season record to 2-1. She allowed three earned runs on nine hits while striking out six and issuing three free passes.
The Tomcats (6-4) are scheduled to travel to Erie, Pa. on Wednesday to take on Penn State-Behrend. The doubleheader is slated to begin at 3 p.m.
