GREENVILLE, Pa. –
Cassy Mahdi (Odenton, Md./Arundel) and
Emily Harrigan (West Hartford, Conn./Hall) combined for 10 goals Saturday, leading the Thiel College women's lacrosse team to a 15-9 win over Mount St. Joseph at the Rissell-Schreyer Dome.
The win for the Tomcats was their second of the season and their first ever in the new Ohio River Lacrosse Conference (ORLC).
Mahdi tallied seven points Saturday while Harrigan notched six points.
Jenna Simanovsky (Plainsboro, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro North) and
Paige Onomastico (Pittsburgh, PA/Chartiers Valley ) also recorded two goals apiece for the Tomcats.
Erica Walsh paced the Lions with six goals. The Lions got within one goal of the Tomcats with a little over 11 minutes remaining in regulation, but the Tomcats went on a 6-1 run down the stretch.
Amy Boxer (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria) earned the win for the Tomcats, her second of the season, after making two saves in the first half.
Abby Spriggs (Westminster, Md./Westminster) made four saves in the second half. Katherine Mapes made six saves in the loss for the Lions.
Thiel (2-0) will host Defiance on Saturday, March 7 at 2 p.m.
