HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Thiel College men's volleyball team recorded a five-set (24-26. 25-17, 25-19, 25-27, 15-13) win over the Eastern Mennonite University Royals in a Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) contest Saturday afternoon.
Four Tomcats recorded double-digit kill totals, led by senior middle hitter Michael Whitelock (Pittsburgh, Pa./Schenley), who had 16 kills on 22 attempts. He also had a solo block and three block assists.
John Turner (Cambridge Springs, Pa./Cambridge Springs) and Regan Hess (Burlington, Wis./Wetosha Central) both had double-doubles in the five-set victory. Turner had 14 kills and17 digs. Turner also had nine block assists and a service ace. Hess had 10 kills and assisted on 11 block assists. Hess also had five digs and two service aces.
Also for Thiel, Dylan Lasher (Ford City, Pa./Elderton) was a dig away from a double-double with 11 kills and nine digs. Colin Vitale (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) had 22 digs while Charle Tindall and Zach Rombach (Severn, Md./Archbishop Spalding) had 31 and 19 assists, respectively.
Scott Brigham had a double-double for the Royals with 25 kills and 13 digs.
The Tomcats will be back in action Tuesday, March 3 at 6 p.m. when they travel to take on the No. 5-ranked Juniata Eagles in a conference matchup.
