GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's volleyball team were unable to topple the Rutgers-Newark Scarlet Raiders in five sets (25-18, 16-25, 20-25, 25-20, 12-15) in a Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) match Saturday.
Dylan Lasher (Ford City, Pa./Elderton) and
Zach Rombach (Severn, Md./Archbishop Spalding) secured double-doubles for the Tomcats. Lasher had 18 kills and also dug out 10 attacks. Rombach assisted on 49 kills and also had 13 digs and added a service ace.
John Turner (Cambridge Springs, Pa./Cambridge Springs) and
Michael Whitelock (Pittsburgh, Pa./Schenley) also recorded double-digit kills. Turner had 16 kills while Whitelock had 11 kills.
Colin Vitale (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) dug out team-high 19 attacks.
Cody Chidsey led the Scarlet Raiders with 17 digs and Kevin McCandless had 53 assists.
The Tomcats (6-7, 1-2 CVC) will wrap up the four game home stand on Thursday, February 19 when they take on Penn State – Behrend inside Beeghly Gymnaisum.
