GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's volleyball team suffered a four set defeat (25-23, 19-25, 5-25, 17-25) to the Bethany Bison in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest Wednesday night inside the Beeghly Gymnasium.
The Tomcats got out to a great start picking up the 25-23 first set victory, behind a four-point swing at the end of the set. The Bison rallied back in the following three sets to pick up the victory.
Jenny Shelley (Port Allegany, Pa./Port Allegany) received her fourth double-double of the season with 38 assists and 13 digs.
Peyton Allen (Mineral Ridge, Ohio/Mineral Ridge) was a kill away from also earning a double-double, recording nine kills with 18 digs and two blocks.
Hannah Budzowski (New Castle, Pa./Shenango) had eight kills on 26 swings while
Danielle Gomula (Northfield, Ohio/Trinity) and Bailey Homes each picked up seven kills.
Shelby Friedel (Columbia Station, Ohio/Columbia) notched five kills and five total blocks for the Tomcats.
Ashley Baer (Cambridge Springs, Pa./Cambridge Springs) led the Tomcat defense with 19 digs.
Megan Sweeny (Freeport, Pa./Freeport Area) also collected double-digit digs, recording 10 digs.
Dylana McKenzie picked up her 1,000-career kill for the Bison with a 10-kill performance in the win.
The Tomcats will be back in action Saturday, Oct. 10 for a PAC tri-match in Beaver Falls, Pa. against the Thomas More Saints at 1 p.m. and the Geneva Golden Tornadoes at 3 p.m.
