BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Thiel College women's volleyball team were defeated by the Thomas More Saints and the Geneva Golden Tornadoes in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) tri-match Saturday afternoon.
The Saints defeated the Tomcats in three sets (25-15, 25-12, 25-17).
Peyton Allen (Mineral Ridge, Ohio/Mineral Ridge) had a team-high nine kills for the Tomcats.
Bailey Holmes (Roaming Shores, Ohio/Grand Valley) registered four kills.
Jenny Shelley (Port Allegany, Pa./Port Allegany) recorded 19 assists and eight digs.
Ashley Baer (Cambridge Springs, Pa./Cambridge Springs) dug out 14 attacks.
Stacy Howell led the Saints with 14 kills and 15 digs.
The Golden Tornadoes also took down the Tomcats in three sets (25-19, 25-18, 25-15). Allen, Shelley and
Lenora Boyer (Delaware, Ohio/Delaware Christian) each notched five kills while Shelley added 22 assists and two aces. Three Tomcats had double-digit digs, including Allen, Baer and
Megan Sweeny (Freeport, Pa./Freeport Area).
Erica Hughes led the Golden Tornadoes with 17 kills.
The Tomcats will be back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. when they host the Chatham Cougars inside Beeghly Gymnasium.
