LATROBE, Pa. – The Thiel Tomcats suffered a 65-14 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) loss Saturday to the Saint Vincent Bearcats at Chuck Noll Field in Latrobe, Pa.
Saint Vincent opened up an early 35-0 lead and never looked back.
Freshman corner
Richard Proper (Cranberry Twp., Pa/Seneca Valley) gave the Tomcats a boost near the midpoint of the second quarter when he returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown.
Cody Dinger (Girard, Pa./Girard) added the extra point.
Freshman running back
Grant Syster (Clymer, Pa./Purchase Line) scored Thiel's other touchdown on a seven-yard run with 6:52 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Tyler Donahue led the Bearcats with 270 yards on the ground on 11 carries while Shavonta Craft scored three rushing touchdowns. Donahue completed 8-of-14 passes for 165 yards and two touchdowns. Damon Black caught three passes, two of which were touchdown receptions, for 117 yards.
Nick Black (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) led the Tomcats on the ground with 56 yards on 12 carries. Syster carried four times for 53 yards.
Ryan Radke (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster Central) completed eight passes for 79 yards.
Alex Horvatits (Lancaster, N.Y./Saint Mary's ) led the Tomcats with four receptions for 43 yards.
Tanner Lucido (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) led the Tomcats with six tackles while
Trevor Martin (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) made five stops, intercepted a pass and broke up a pass.
The Tomcats will host the Westminster Titans next Saturday at Alumni Stadium. Kickoff for Thiel's homecoming is scheduled for 3 p.m.
