GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel Tomcats were defeated by the Westminster Titans Saturday at Alumni Stadium, 49-6.
Freshman running back
Nick Black (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) led Thiel with 40 yards on 15 carries. He scored a touchdown on a six-yard run early in the fourth quarter.
Jarrett Pound (Wattsburg, Pa./Seneca) completed 12 passes for 144 yards while
Ryan Radke (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster Central) caught five passes for 30 yards and
Ron Howard (Sharon, Pa./Sharon) made three catches for 54 yards.
Westminster quarterback Shamon Walker completed nine passes, two of which were touchdown strikes, for 105 yards. He also ran for 67 yards and another touchdown on six totes. Dominique McKinley led the Titans on the ground with 186 yards on 16 carries. He also scored a touchdown.
Westminster forced four Thiel turnovers Saturday. Linebacker Mac Quinn led the Titans with eight tackles, one of which was for a loss of yards. He also forced a fumble, recovered a fumble and broke up a pass. Wayne Seamans and Todd Jeter each returned an interception for a touchdown.
Doak Walker Jr. (Canton, Ohio/Canton McKinley) led Thiel's defense with 14 tackles.
Nick Ravida (McKeesport, Pa./South Allegheny) made five tackles, 1.5 of which were behind the line of scrimmage, and recorded a sack and two quarterback hurries.
The Tomcats will return to action Saturday, Oct. 24 when they travel to Waynesburg, Pa., to take on the Yellow Jackets. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
