Thiel loses non-conference games to Case Western Reserve

Senior first baseman Molly Jo Everett went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Tomcats Sunday in the first game of a doubleheader against the Case Western Reserve Spartans.
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CLEVELAND – The Thiel Tomcats suffered a pair of non-conference losses on the road Sunday to the Case Western Reserve Spartans. The Tomcats lost the first game of the doubleheader 7-0 before falling 8-0 in the second game.
 
The Spartans hit three home runs in the first game. Erin Dreger scored the first run of the day in the second inning on a solo shot. Annie Wenneberg hit a 2-run homer in the fourth frame to extend Case Western Reserve's lead to 4-0. Kristen Klemmer closed out scoring in the sixth with a three-run shot.
 
Senior first baseman Molly Jo Everett (Medina, Ohio/Highland) led the Tomcats at the plate in the first game with a 2-for-3 performance.
 
Amanda Callahan (Austintown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch) suffered the loss in Game 1, dropping her season record to 5-3. She allowed seven runs, only four of which were earned, on 11 hits. Callahan struck out two batters and issued three walks. Wenneberg earned the win, upping her season record to 10-2. She refused to give up a run on four hits with one strikeout and one walk.
 
The Spartans scored two runs in the first inning of the second game and two more runs in the second inning before earning the 8-0 win in six innings.
 
Ashley Dolan (Export, Pa./Franklin Regional), Amanda Auxier (Parma Heights, Ohio/Valley Forge) and Morgan White (Warren, Ohio/Champion) each had one hit in the second game for the Tomcats. Ashley Parello led the Spartans in Game 2 with three hits while Gena Roberts had two hits and two RBIs.
 
White took the loss in Game 2. She allowed six earned runs on 12 hits with a strikeout and two walks. Rebecca Molnar earned the win in the second game. Through four innings, she didn't allow a run while giving up three hits.
 
The Tomcats (12-10, 5-1 PAC) will return to action Wednesday when they travel to Crestview Hills, Ky., to take on the Thomas More Saints in a PAC doubleheader. The first game is set to begin at 3:30 p.m.
