Box Score LATROBE, Pa. – The top-seeded Saint Vincent College Bearcats made their ranking stand up Saturday as they defeated Thiel College 18-14 to claim the 2014 Presidents' Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship.
Saint Vincent jumped out to a 5-0 lead on goals by Sarah Wallerstedt, Kaley Burkardt and Molly Snyder to go on to a 14-7 lead at the half. Though they trailed by seven goals at the break, the Tomcats won the second half, 7-4.
Emily Harrigan (West Hartford, Conn./Hall) scored seven goals to lead Thiel.
Cassy Mahdi (Odenton, Md./Arundel) added four goals and an assist while
Beth Snider (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler Area) (2G) and
Sharr Martin (San Diego, Calif./The Preuss School UCSD) (1G, 1A) each added scores.
Abby Spriggs (Westminster, Md./Westminster) made six saves in 50 minutes in net for the Tomcats.
Amy Boxer (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria) also recorded three saves over the final 10 minutes of play.
The Tomcats concluded the 2014 season with a 9-8 record.
