Box Score LATROBE, Pa. –
Five Tomcats scored at least one goal as second-seeded Thiel College defeated Waynesburg University 17-6 in the semifinals of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Women's Lacrosse Championship Tournament Friday at Chuck Noll Field.
Beth Snider (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler Area) led Thiel with six goals and two assists, while teammate
Cassy Mahdi (Odenton, Md./Arundel) added six goals and a helper.
In addition to Snider and Mahdi,
Emily Harrigan (West Hartford, Conn./Hall) tallied four points on three goals and an assist, while
Sharr Martin (San Diego, Calif./The Preuss School UCSD) (1G, 3A) and
Hannah Stelmach (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) (1G) added a marker apiece for Thiel.
Defensively, Jenna Simanovsky (Plainsboro, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro North) and Stelmach each scooped a game-high six groundballs. Abby Spriggs (Westminster, Md./Westminster) recorded the win in the cage for the Tomcats, making a pair of saves in the first half.The Tomcats (9-7) will play for the 2014 PAC Championship tomorrow, April 26, when they take on the Saint Vincent College Bearcats. The championship, a rematch of last season's title game that saw Thiel defeat Saint Vincent 15-13, begins at 2 p.m.
