Box Score WAYNESBURG, Pa. –
Emily Harrigan (West Hartford, Conn./Hall) and Cassy Mahdi (Odenton, Md./Arundel) tallied ten points each Wednesday, setting a new program record for points in a single game in the Thiel College women's lacrosse team's 22-3 win over Presidents' Athletic Conference foe Waynesburg University at Wiley Stadium.
Harrigan scored seven goals and added three assists in the win while Mahdi totaled five goals and five assists, breaking a record that both previously held. Harrigan was the first to record nine points in a game, notching six goals and three assists in a 20-0 win over Franciscan University of Steubenville at the Rissell-Schreyer Dome on March 18, 2013. Mahdi tied that mark this season, registering nine points on seven goals and two assists in Thiel's 17-4 win over Defiance College on April 12, 2014.
In addition to Harrigan and Mahdi, three other Tomcats recorded four or more points on the day, including:
Beth Snider (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler Area) (4G, 1A),
Sharr Martin (San Diego, Calif./The Preuss School UCSD) (2G, 3A) and
Jennifer Rickens (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) (1G, 3A).
Jenna Simanovsky (Plainsboro, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro North) (1G, 1A), Heather Reichenback (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) (1G), Hannah Stelmach (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) (1G), and Rachel Horell (1A) also notched points for Thiel.
Abby Spriggs (Westminster, Md./Westminster) and Amy Boxer (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria) combined for seven saves, with Spriggs collecting her fourth win of the season.
The Tomcats, who have now won three-straight and eight of their last ten, will begin their PAC title defense on April 25 when they take on the Waynesburg University Yellow Jackets in the first round of the PAC Championships, hosted by St. Vincent College. The contest is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
