Tomcats roll to fourth straight win

Thiel trounces W&J, 15-1

Samantha Burkhardt notched two points Saturday in Thiel’s 15-1 win over W&J.
Box Score WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel women's lacrosse team extended its winning streak to four games Saturday with a 15-1 victory over the Washington & Jefferson Presidents at Alexandre Stadium.
 
The contest was never close as the Tomcats led 3-0 less than 15 minutes into the first half and 9-0 at the break.
 
Sharr Martin (San Diego, Calif./The Preuss School UCSD) led Thiel with three goals and three assists for a 6-point game. Cassy Mahdi (Odenton, Md./Arundel) scored five goals while Hannah Stelmach (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) notched four points with two goals and a pair of assists. Also for the Tomcats, Emily Harrigan (West Hartford, Conn./Hall) potted three goals and Samantha Burkhardt (Damascus, Md./Damascus) notched two points with a goal and an assist.
 
Abby Spriggs (Westminster, Md./Westminster) earned the win, allowed just one goal while making one save. Kelsey Rotenberg made 12 saves in the loss for the Presidents. Alex Dikos scored W&J's lone goal.
 
The Tomcats (4-5) will return to action Sunday when they host the Wilmington (OH) Quakers at the Rissell-Schreyer Dome at 1 p.m.
