Box Score POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Thiel College men's volleyball team picked up its ninth win of the season at Vassar College Saturday. Thiel (9-7) defeated the Brewers 3-1 (27-29, 25-17, 25-21, 25-23).
The Tomcats were led by junior
John Turner (Cambridge Springs, Pa./Cambridge Springs). He finished with a team-best eight kills and only one error. The Cambridge Springs product also tallied two solo blocks and six block assists. Seniors
Evan Proksell (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler Area) and Kyle Turkalji picked up seven kills, respectively.
Senior
Corey Hamilton (Meadville, Pa./Maplewood) ran the Tomcats offense, collecting a team-high 20 assists. He also chipped in five digs.
Defensively, junior
Michael Whitelock (Pittsburgh, Pa./Schenley) led Thiel with a match and career-high 11 total blocks, including five solo blocks. The Pittsburgh, Pa. native also added six kills and a pair of service aces. The Tomcats, who totaled 22 total blocks, currently ranks sixth in the nation with a 2.51 blocks per set average.
Thiel remains on the road for its next match. The Tomcats take on No. 1 SUNY-New Paltz at 3 p.m. today.
