Martin’s hat trick not enough in Thiel’s loss to Allegheny

Box Score GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's lacrosse team's season opener ended in an 18-9 loss to the visiting Allegheny Gators Wednesday at the Rissell-Schreyer Dome.

Junior midfielder Sharr Martin (San Diego, Calif./The Preuss School UCSD) recorded a hat trick along with an assist and three ground balls to pace the Tomcats. Emily Harrigan (West Hartford, Conn./Hall) and Beth Snider (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler Area) also added two goals apiece. Cassy Mahdi (Odenton, Md./Arundel) and Hannah Stelmach (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) scored one goal apiece.

Leading scoring for Allegheny was Gusty Mead, who notched four goals and also added three ground balls. McKenzie Bell stimulated the Gators' offense with five assists.

The Tomcats (0-1) will be back in action Sunday March 2 when they travel to Arnold, Md. to take on the Berry College Vikings. The game is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
