BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball team dropped a close 56-55 decision Wednesday night to the Geneva Golden Tornadoes in their Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opener.
Senior forward
Eric Mallinger (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) led the Tomcats in scoring with 13 points. He also added four rebounds and three assists.
Clandell Cetoute (Wellington, Fla./Wellington) scored 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting.
The Tomcat bench contributed 25 points led by
Josh Johnson (Monroeville, Pa./Imani Christian Academy), who had ten points and also pulled down five rebounds.
Justin Dade (Upper Marlboro, Md./Bishop McNamara) also added eight points off the bench.
Ethan Adamcyzk had a game-high 23 points for the Golden Tornadoes along with five rebounds and two steals.
Jordan Lawrence scored the game-winning basket for Geneva with 33 seconds remaining in the game.
Eric Mallinger (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) was unable to knock down the jumper from the top of the paint at the end of the game to seal the win for Geneva.
The Tomcats return home on Saturday, Dec. 6 to take on the Bethany College Bison in a conference matchup. The tip is scheduled for 3 p.m.
