Junior Trevor Ridilla (Boswell, Pa./North Star) scored the lone goal of the match to give the Tomcat men's soccer team a 1-0 win over D'Youville College in a match played at Medaille College. The win improves Thiel's record to 2-2 on the season while D'Youville dropped to 0-4.

Senior goalkeeper Andrew Hindman (Dunedin, Fla./Dunedin) stopped three shots on net to record his second shutout in the past three contests.

Ridilla netted his score in the 44th minute after his shot beat the already outstretched Spartans' goal keeper to give the Tomcats a 1-0 lead that they would not relinquish. The goal was set up after a shot taken by Rory Duncan (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon) was punched away by the keeper, deflecting to Ridilla.

Thiel outshot the Spartans 22-9 during the match, including an 11-3 advantage on shots on goal. Thiel also held a decided 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.

The Tomcats return to action Sept. 11 at 3:00 p.m. for a non-conference match at Franciscan University.
