LORETTO, Pa. (Oct. 24) – The Thiel College men's soccer team battled Saint Francis to a 0-0 draw Saturday afternoon at the Stokes Soccerplex.
The Tomcats moved to 4-10-3 overall, while Saint Francis moved to 0-11-1 on the season.
Thiel created several scoring opportunities throughout the contest, recording 17 shots, including 11 on goal. The Tomcats registered six shots in the first half before increasing the pressure after halftime with 11 additional attempts.
Junior forward Mitchell Strauss (Bradford, Pa./Bradford Area) led the Tomcats' attack with six shots, four of which were on target. Peyton Kushon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Deer Lakes), Rylan Piccirilli (Sharpsville, Pa./Sharpsville) and Derek Thomas (Poland, Ohio/Poland) all took two shots, each recording one on net. Multiple other Tomcats pushed forward on the offensive end, but were unable to make a result.
Defensively, goalkeeper Dylan Budziak (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) recorded three saves to help secure the shutout. The Tomcats limited Saint Francis to 10 total shots and three shots on goal while maintaining defensive pressure throughout the match.
Thiel also held an advantage in corner kicks, earning eight compared to Saint Francis' three. Despite the Tomcats' offensive pressure and 11 shots on target, neither team found the back of the net.
The Blue and Gold are back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 28 for the final match of the 2026 season when they host Saint Vincent at 7:30 p.m.
