Box Score GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's soccer team used a second-half goal from
Rory Duncan (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon) to defeat Penn State Beaver, 1-0, Wednesday at Alumni Stadium.
Duncan's decisive strike came in the 49th minute when he collected a Thiel free kick and slipped the ball past the diving Lions' keeper, burying the shot from 15 yards out for his first goal of the fall.
The Tomcats nearly found the net in the closing seconds of the first half, but a late whistle by the center ref waived off the apparent goal as the line judge signaled offsides.
In all, it was a dominant second half for Thiel, which played the large majority of the half in Penn State Beaver territory. The Tomcats outshot the Lions 23-4 during the match, including 14-1 during the second half.
Senior goalkeeper
Andrew Hindman (Dunedin, Fla./Dunedin) made three saves, posting his first shutout of the season in the process.
The Tomcats will head to Buffalo, N.Y., on Saturday where they will face the host Medaille College, and then will take on D"Youville College in Buffalo on Sunday.
