In the fourth inning, Game 1 starting pitcher Amanda Callahan (Austintown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch) and Massengill hit back-to-back homers to increase Thiel's lead to 5-0.

The Tomcats went on to score eight runs in the fifth inning to earn the 13-1 five-inning victory. Massengill led the Tomcats at the plate in the first game. She went 3-for-3 with two home runs, four RBIs and four runs scored.

Callahan earned the win in the first game, allowing just one earned run over five innings. She struck out the side in order in the second inning and, in all, whiffed nine batters to pick up her third win of the season.

The Tomcats jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the second game of the doubleheader en route to the 9-6 victory.

First baseman Molly Jo Everett (Medina, Ohio/Highland) led the Tomcats in the second game. She went 3-for-4 at the plate with a solo home run in the fifth inning. Amanda Auxier (Parma Heights, Ohio/Valley Forge) and Madison Cheek (Milan, Ohio/Edison) also went 3-for-4 with a double apiece.
